A Day At Camp

Every day holds something exciting at Camp Cherith!

Daily Schedules

Life at Laurentian Camp Cherith is structured, but not strict. Our daily schedule begins with the wake-up call and Morning Watch -- personal devotionals which campers complete independently. Along with their three activities, campers have daily Bible Exploration lessons to help them understand God's Word. There is plenty of free time and rest time where kids can participate in organized games, play tetherball, try out new activities, buy a snack to eat, or just hang out with their friends.

We put a lot of effort into making the camp program exciting and varied. Music plays a large part of the organized activity, with lots of singing before meals and of course during campfire songfests. We sing everything from traditional camp songs to upbeat praise songs.

A spiritual theme sets the tone for all sessions that run in a given year. This theme forms the basis for devotions and sharing for all the leaders. Previous themes have included "Forever Friend", "The Missing Peace", and "In Tune With God".

Each camp week has a different fun theme too! We've had The Amazing Race, Under the Sea, Time Travel, and many other cool themes to base our activities and games on.

Special Events

Our weekly schedule is filled with fun events including a sleepout under the stars (weather permitting, of course). We also have a Talent Night, where individuals can choose to demonstrate their talents in doing skits, playing songs, and all kinds of other cool and unusual performances. We also have a special dress-up banquet, and at the end of the week we have a slide show, dramatic presentations, a huge songfest, and celebrate the fun we had all week at camp.

Camp Triathalon

A long-standing Camp Cherith tradition, one additional highlight of every week (weather permitting) is the Camp Triathalon, an opt-in activity which puts co-ed pairs of staff and campers together in some healthy competition as they demonstrate their skills at archery, canoeing and endurance running!
