Phase I: 2008-2009

Goal

The Phase I Development Plan was to transform the former trailer campground into a site capable of supporting our first year running our summer camp program.

Timeline

Phase I began when we purchased the property in August 2008, and was completed by July 2009.

Objectives

  • Upgrade the existing water purification system to meet provincial standards for children’s summer camps
  • Build 10 camper cabins in two separate areas for boys and girls
  • Build two additional washhouses for the cabin areas (cost: $4,000)
  • Convert the existing White Owl Lodge into a temporary kitchen, including a walk-in cooler and commercial dishwasher
  • Reroute the existing access road for our neighboring cottages
  • Purchase or borrow needed activity supplies, such as kayaks, lifejackets, archery and woodworking equipment
  • Borrow a marquee tent for use as a temporary dining hall.
