Mission Statement

Camp Cherith is a non-profit, non-denominational, co-ed Christian camping program for boys and girls age 8 to 16. We are the official summer camping ministry of the Pioneer Clubs mid-week children's program. The name "Cherith" comes from 1 Kings 17, which describes how the prophet Elijah found rest at the Brook Cherith. Our camp tradition of addressing leaders by bird or animal names also stems from this passage, in which God provided birds -- ravens -- to give nourishment to the prophet Elijah.

Our purpose is to provide a Christ-centred, Bible based outdoor program that results in:

  • growth in a camper's life through the development of spiritual, mental, emotional and physical skills in group living experiences.
  • an appreciation of God's creation in the outdoors.
  • a spiritual understanding of what it means to have Christ "in every aspect of life".

Camp Cherith gives campers an experience of living out of doors, making new friends and learning and developing new skills -- all while having lots of fun! Campers choose elective skills-based activities, and also participate in: Bible Exploration small group studies, Morning Watch personal devotions, group games, campfires, singing, and many other activities.

We are one of eight "Cherith" camps across Canada and the United States. Each Camp Cherith runs in its own unique way, but all share the same vision, mission statements, and underlying philosophy.
